He who works his land will have abundant food but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.
Proverbs 28:19
The First Baptist Church McCaysville began in the fall of 1900, when a small
group gathered in the Methodist Church to form McCays Baptist Church. For more
than 100 years our congregation has kept the faith and vision of its founders.
In 1906 a flood inundated the small town on the Toccoa River, causing many to
seek safety on higher ground. In 1910, a devastating fire burned dwellings, businesses
and the church. Through both, members ministered and comforted those in need.
On Christmas day, 1961, the church building burned. Again, the members faithfully
sought means of rebuilding and were strengthened through adversity.
Outstanding pastors have led the church in spiritual growth and missions outreach.
The church continues to be a strong supporter of causes promoted by the Southern
Baptist Convention. From among her membership preachers and Christian leaders
have gone out to serve in other places.
But of great significance, too, are those who follow. Many faithful members practice
principles of Christian service and stewardship day by day. You are cordially
invited and encouraged to join our fellowship.
