Baptists are a people who profess a living faith. This faith is rooted and grounded in Jesus Christ who is the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Therefore, the sole authority for faith and practice among Baptists is Jesus Christ whose will is revealed in the Holy Scriptures.

We honor the principles of soul competency and the priesthood of believers, affirming together both our liberty in Christ and our accountability to each other under the Word of God.

The First Baptist Church in McCaysville, Georgia and Copperhill, Tennessee, is a place where people enjoy a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We are a people who have "believed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing [we] have life in his name" (John 20:31). We share a common life together.

The fullness of this common life is realized when we gather together in worship, grow together through God's Word - the Bible, and give together by good works within our church and in our communities. We are a people who have been given new life through faith in Jesus Christ.

As a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, the church subscribes to the ideals expressed in "The Baptist Faith and Message".
